The Tripoli International Olympic Stadium, also known as the Rashid Karami Stadium, is a modern multi-purpose "Sports Town" located south of Rashid Karameh International Exhibition Center. The construction of the stadium was completed at the cost of 16 million US Dollars during a record timing of ten months.
The Tripoli International Olympic Stadium was opened for the first time during the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup, hosted by Lebanon in October 2000, alongside the Camille Chamoun Sports City Stadium and the Saida International Stadium.
The Tripoli International Olympic Stadium is the home ground of the Lebanon national rugby league team and it is used for international rugby league tests. The Mediterranean Cup was an annual rugby league football tournament that was held in Lebanon and in France. The Mediterranean Cup was resurrected in 2002 as a one-off match between Lebanon and France. It was played at the Tripoli International Olympic Stadium on November 2, 2002 in front of a crowd of 9,713. Lebanon defeated France 36-6.
The stadium also has athletics facilities. The parking area is frequently used for Lebanese drifting motorsport competitions.
